The global pandemic Covid-19 has affected us all in some way over the last few months. These have been uncertain times which has caused a degree of panic, and/or desire for commercial gain amongst some unscrupulous suppliers who want to use or market UVC products as CV-19 protection. The International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) believes that UV disinfection technologies can play a role in a multiple barrier approach to reducing the transmission of the virus causing COVID-19, SARSCoV-2. Please see the link on this page for a useful fact sheet that they have compiled.

UVC irradiation and ozone will treat the virus, but must be used with caution. Any useful UVC is harmful to humans, and animals unless they are completely protected from UVC irradiation. Ozone will also be an effective treatment agent, but again it is harmful to humans and animals. Fortunately Ozone is not stable in our atmosphere and reverts back to Oxygen relatively quickly depending on concentration. We have over 30 years experience, and expertise in the field uv disinfection.

Our products and components have been carefully designed to ensure the end user is protected. This is particularly true for example, with our enclosed fan units with no exposed uv lamp(s). We have finished goods, but can also supply the components for customized solutions. Our mission is to ensure customers continue to use uv products in a safe and effective way. Below are some examples of some frequently asked questions, particularly from potential customers who have limited or no knowledge of the subject area.

Q. I only have 220V mains supply, are the lamps a higher voltage than this?
A. The lamp voltage is supplied from a power supply (sometimes called a ballast or EPS) which has 220V input. The output voltage of the lamp is handled by the power supply.

Q. I need to put a bank of uv lamps in my air conditioning duct, is this possible?
A. Yes and this is a very safe way to utilize UVC as the lamps are completely enclosed. uv technik has a range devoted to HVAC systems. Please see here: UV HVAC Solutions

Q. We need to disinfect bank notes or documents with UVC. Is this possible?
A. In theory yes but all surfaces must be irradiated without the operator being irradiated.

Q. I want to disinfect fruit and vegetables with UVC in a cabinet. Is this possible?
A. Yes but you need to ensure all the surface areas are irradiated. Any part of the object that is in shadow will not be treated. If you have a conveyor it is easier to use a uv tunnel with a vibrating belt. This will ensure complete irradiation with the operator protected.

Q. I need 30mJ/cm2 UVC dose for a conveyor line. Can you tell me how many lamps I need and what power?
A. Yes we can calculate this with our experienced UV engineers.

Q. Do you offer any products that can be used for the disinfection of clothing materials and fabrics?
A. Yes, with the use of Ozone this is possible. But please be aware that some ozone production methods and potentially hazardous. Please contact us for more information.

Q. Can UV be used to decontaminate N95 filtering face-piece respirators (FFRs)?
A. Data suggest that FFR decontamination using UVGI (Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation) can be effective. Please see the research report on this page for more information.

Q. Do you sell your products to individual domestic customers?
A. We only sell our products for use in commercial and industrial applications, and therefore we only sell business to business.

Please don't hesitate to contact for any sales or technical advice in relation to UV disinfection and Covid 19.
